FAQ

You cook. This isn't a demonstration you watch or a recipe kit you assemble. It's a real kitchen, a professional chef beside you, and ten people maximum, so you get real attention and pick up the techniques chefs actually use.
Every course is made by you, start to finish. At the end we sit down together at one table and eat everything we've cooked. You go home with the recipes, and with enough understanding to cook them without us.A class runs 3–4 hours depending on the format
-
No experience needed. Most people who come to us can follow a recipe but freeze without one, and that's exactly the gap we close. Plenty of guests come on their own, and a small group makes it easy to settle in.
Classes are for adults aged 18 and over.

We're launching with three. Dîner au Bistro is an evening of classic French bistro cooking. À la boulangerie is focusing on French pastry. Marché d'automne is a class built around seasonal produce. In each one you cook around three dishes or pastries alongside the chef and learn the basic French techniques behind them.

A class runs 3–4 hours depending on the format.
-
English. Our chefs also speak German, so you're welcome to ask questions in either. Classes taught in German will follow.
-
Professional chefs with experience in France. À la boulangerie is led by a trained pastry chef. I'm there at every class too, looking after the room so the chef can focus on you.
-
Everything you cook. After the savoury classes we sit down together for a proper meal at one table. After À la boulangerie we taste what we've baked, or you can take your pastries home.
Every class starts with a welcome glass of crémant, and there's coffee too. Wine pairing is optional, if you chose it you’ll enjoy a French wine during tasting.

Changes and cancellations
-
Cancel 14 days or more before the class and you can choose a full refund or a free move to another date. Within 14 days, we can't refund or move your booking, because the kitchen, the chef and the ingredients are already paid for. You can still send someone in your place at no charge, right up to the start. Just email us their name. They'll cook the menu as planned, so tell us early if they have any dietary needs.
To cancel or change a booking, email info@ateliercuisine.net. Refunds go back to your original payment method within 14 days. A booking made with a gift card returns its value to the card.
-
A class needs at least six people to run. If we haven't reached that ten days before, we'll let you know and you can choose a full refund or a place on another date. The same applies if we ever have to cancel for another reason, such as illness or a problem with the kitchen.
-
Let us know and we'll do what we can. Classes start on time, and if you arrive more than 20 minutes late, we may not be able to bring you into the session.
-
Yes, for groups of up to 14. Email us at info@ateliercuisine.net. Private events have their own booking terms, as we hold the whole date for you.
Dietary needs
-
Marché d'automne & À la boulangerie are both vegetarian. Dîner au Bistro includes meat. Each class page shows exactly what's on the menu.
-
Not at the moment. French technique leans heavily on butter, cream and eggs, and our current classes are built around them.
-
Not currently. Our launch classes use wheat flour throughout. We're working with our chefs on a gluten free class for the future.
-
Tell us when you book, or at the latest 14 days before the class, as ingredients are bought for the people coming. Each class page lists the allergens in every dish. Our kitchen handles nuts, dairy, gluten, eggs, fish and shellfish, so we can't guarantee any dish is free from traces. If your allergy is severe, email us before booking so we can talk it through.
-
Some of our dishes may include raw milk cheese, charcuterie or raw egg. Check the menu on the class page, and if you're unsure, email us before booking and we'll tell you exactly what's involved.
